چکیده
Background The pursuit of high standards and continuous self-improvement are important aspects a professional attitude in medicine. However, when identity self-esteem dependent on flawless performance, healthy striving can become perfectionism. present study examines the influence perfectionism learning process basic instrument handling for minimally invasive surgery (MIS). Methods Thirty medical students volunteered to participate (19 females, 11 males). mean age was 19.8 years (SD = 1.8). Perfectionism Inventory used determine degree perfectionist characteristics two main factors: Self-evaluative Conscientious Participants practiced with loops wire task surgical simulator were tested skill retention within 48 hours. During practice movement captured three-dimensional space using Leap Motion controller. Performance assessed by time total path length travelled instruments. Results negatively related regard efficiency, but did not predict change average task. factor predictor or completion time. significant pathlength between sessions changes Conclusions Overly negative self-evaluation during MIS undermined process. Trainees self-critical perfectionistic tendencies may optimally benefit from their efforts practice.

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is rising in popularity. It offers well-known benefits to the patient. However, restricted access to the surgical site and gas insufflation into the body cavities may result in severe complications. From the anaesthetic point of view MIS poses unique challenges associated with creation of pneumoperitoneum, carbon dioxide absorption, specific positioning and moni...
